Welcome to Belmont School
Our dedicated staff provide outstanding education for boys between the ages of 5 and 16 who have very complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of the boys who attend Belmont also have additional learning and communication difficulties.
We understand that a lot of our students have been excluded from mainstream education and often have a very negative attitude toward school. As a team, we come alongside them, take an interest in their lives and help to nurture an interest in learning. Our support extends to a child’s family too, because when children are happy at home, they thrive in school.
Through our Primary School, Secondary School and Vocational Training Unit, we offer boys a wide range of creative indoor and outdoor learning opportunities and extracurricular activities. We know each child well enough to be able to set ambitious, realistic targets and put in place a structure of support to ensure they achieve them. Our class sizes are small, and we bring in a range of external therapists who can work on a one-to-one basis with our students as required.
We care deeply about the future of our children and will do our upmost to help them participate fully in society when they leave Belmont.
"Coming to Belmont has made my life a lot better. I’m a lot happier here and I feel more respected. I feel as if people care and listen. I feel as if I have some respect here; not just from the other kids but from the staff as well."
"Belmont School has been life changing for us all. He is a completely different child…he’s calm, more mature and a much happier boy. Before Belmont we just didn’t know what to do with him: it’s been fantastic." Parent
“It’s a good school. I like the smaller class sizes: my class has two members of staff between seven of us. The staff are fair here. If you’re good you’re rewarded for it and I like that. There is no bullying here at all. If anyone tries it, it’s stamped out straight away." Pupil
“Staff give 100% to the boys: It’s a brilliant school. Belmont School has had an impact on the whole family, because he is so happy there.” Parent
“Belmont School has been Luke’s saving grace and I am sure it will continue to be so for many others. Being accepted into Belmont has truly been the best thing that could have happened to him.” Grandmother
“Belmont School and its staff are amazing. Belmont has been the only support system that we have had for Mathew and when he leaves Belmont I have concerns that he may not receive the same from his next placement at college.” Parent
